Grayslake Community High School District 127 is upgrading their outreach communication tool from Blackboard Connect to SchoolMessenger. District 127 has contracted with West Corporation, provider of SchoolMessenger, for parental and staff outreach, emergency broadcasts, student attendance alerts and other communications for education. The SchoolMessenger system is designed to notify parents for reasons that impact the safety and academic performance of students. SchoolMessenger will extend the district’s existing community outreach efforts and emergency preparedness procedures, as well as inform parents of upcoming school events. As a comprehensive communication tool, SchoolMessenger will contribute to the district’s involvement initiatives, allowing the district to engage the broader educational community about a wide range of topics affecting students’ academic success.
SchoolMessenger will use multiple means of communicating with parents and staff. The primary means of communication will be through phone numbers and email addresses provided to Grayslake District 127. Parents and staff will also have the option to receive text messages. Parents and staff will receive an opt-in notification November 13th should they want to receive messages in this format. SchoolMessenger also provides families and staff the option to download a mobile app. Available in the Apple iOS and Android Google Play store, the SchoolMessenger mobile app will manage all school emails and phone calls. Second semester, the mobile app will be used for accessing report cards and scheduling absences from school. Please see the blue school messenger icon below as you browse the Apple or Android app store.
The scheduled timeline for implementation of SchoolMessenger is:
- November 11 – Information sent to parents
- November 13 – Text message opt-in information sent
- November 18 – District 127 “Go Live” date for School Messenger
