GCHS has 6 honor societies all with their own special focus. All groups provide students with opportunities for service hours and leadership roles. There are qualifications for each group as well as induction ceremonies.

This organization recognizes high achievement in visual art and promotes GCHS artists and their creative activities. It provides students leadership opportunities as well throughout each school year.

Students inducted into the GCHS chapter of the National Honor Society make a commitment to helping with a number of community service events their senior year. Club sponsors will offer students a number of opportunities throughout the course of the school year, and students are able to choose which projects they'd like to be a part of.

To be eligible as a candidate for the National Honor Society, a student must:

1. Be a junior who has attended GCHS the equivalent of one semester

2. Have a minimum cumulative scholastic average of 3.4 on a 4.0 scale

3. Be active in the school’s extracurricular community by participating in two sports/clubs their junior year

4. Have some history of community service (examples of appropriate community service include working for a clean-up campaign, public library, hospital, homeless shelter, literacy program, or the Special Olympics; volunteering in a house of worship; participating actively in Scouting; or taking part in a fundraising event like an AIDS or cancer walk)

5. Be highly regarded by the faculty

6. Be free of major disciplinary action at GCHS

7. Receive a majority vote for admission by the National Honor Society Faculty Council

The National Technical Honor Society offers students in the Career and Technical Education (CTE) program courses an opportunity to meet and collaborate with like-minded students at Grayslake Central and interact with the local industry and business community through off-site visits and interactive seminars. This club meets every other week throughout the school year.

NTHS students gain unique benefits with club membership including exclusive scholarship eligibility, the NTHS endorsement on their high school transcript, and special graduation recognition. Specialty certification training programs, universities, and employers know what being part of the NTHS means, and being an active member often leads to unique opportunities to accelerate your technical career.

Students may choose to attend meetings and participate in the club at Grayslake Central, but may not be officially inducted into the NTHS until they have successfully completed a minimum of four semesters of Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses and maintained a 3.0 or better GPA in their CTE program classes.

Tri-M National Music Honor Society is an organization open to all District 127 music students. It was founded in 1936 at Maine Township High School in Park Ridge, Illinois, and currently has over 4500 chapters throughout the US. It is designed to recognize music students for academic and musical achievement, reward them for their accomplishments and service activities, and inspire others to excel in leadership and music. Students must be an active member of a school music performance group and meet the standards of criteria in five categories: scholarship, character, cooperation, leadership, and service. Tri-M members perform numerous community and school service projects throughout the school year.
