District Assessment Days: APRIL 10 and 11, 2024
Our District Assessment Days at GNHS each April include the administration of various exams required by the State of Illinois. All exams are free and mandatory, so they require no payment or advanced registration by families.
If you're looking for information about how to access student scores, the College Board has provided a guide. If you need any further information, please contact Mrs. Burnette at rburnette@d127.org.
The College Board is transitioning to fully digital versions of each exam for 2024, so we will be providing updated information as it becomes available. Students will be testing on their GNHS-issued Chromebooks at GNHS. They will not need to register or pay for any exam.
We will share any test preparation resources as they are released by the College Board. Beyond that, students will only need to arrive ready to test with a fully charged Chromebook and power cord. Students may still use their own calculators, but there is a fully functional graphing calculator within the testing application.
Each assessment in the SAT Suite of Assessments — the SAT, PSAT/NMSQT, PSAT 10, and PSAT 8/9 — includes a Reading Test, a Writing and Language Test, and a Math Test. The SAT also features an optional essay component, which some colleges will require. Questions throughout the assessments focus on skills that matter most for college readiness and success, according to the latest research. Most questions can be answered by exploring the College Board website.

Juniors!
The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test is administered annually at Grayslake North High School to all juniors. This year’s exam date will be Tuesday, October 17, 2023.
The College Board is transitioning to a fully digital version of the PSAT/NMSQT, so we will be providing updated information as it becomes available. Students will be testing on their GNHS-issued Chromebooks at GNHS during the regularly scheduled school day on 10/17. They will not need to register, pay, or worry about alternative transportation.
We will share any test preparation resources as they are released by the College Board. Beyond that, students will only need to arrive ready to test with a fully charged Chromebook and power cord. Students may still use their own calculators, but there is a fully functional graphing calculator within the testing application.
Please contact Rachel Burnette, Testing Coordinator, with any questions.

Khan Academy: We highly recommend that all students take advantage of the free and personalized resources available through the Khan Academy. Students can link previous tests and get individualized practice material. In addition, the Khan Academy has hours of review videos, full-length practice tests, and numerous sample questions designed around each area of the SAT.
Schoology Resources: Our test preparation team has compiled a series of free resources available to all students. Some resources will be published on Schoology, and we offer a test prep class in the spring. If you have any trouble accessing these SAT resources, please contact Kim Johnson at kjohnson@d127.org
9th & 10th Grade! More information to come
8th Graders!
The Preliminary SAT 8/9 is administered each October to incoming 8th graders as one tool to help determine course placements for freshmen the following academic year.
The College Board is transitioning to a fully digital version of the PSAT 8/9 this year, so we will be providing updated information as it becomes available. The format, dates, times, and testing locations are all likely to be significantly different than what students' older siblings or friends may have experienced in the past.
We will also share any test preparation resources as they are released by the College Board.
Please contact Rachel Burnette, Testing Coordinator, with any questions.

The PSAT 8/9 helps students determine what they need to work on most so that they’re ready for college when they graduate from high school—and it supports educators as they guide the way. The fall PSAT 8/9 scores are now available via the CollegeBoard website. Please visit this link and have your student set up their CollegeBoard account. The student needs to access their CollegeBoard account throughout high school and beyond.
