Grayslake Community High School District 127 proudly hosted its first-ever Realtor Breakfast on Wednesday, November 12, bringing together local real estate professionals for a morning of connection, learning, and community collaboration at Grayslake North High School.
This new initiative aimed to provide realtors with an inside look at what makes D127 a destination district for families. Guests enjoyed a warm welcome with a light continental breakfast, engaging presentations from district leaders, guided school tours from building Principal teams, and even a ride on a mini-bus.
What They Learned
State of the District Update: Superintendent Dr. Mikkel Storaasli, opened the morning with a district overview, our values and priorities, the Portrait of a Learner, and overall district performance.
Authentic Learning & Pathways: Assistant Superintendent Dr. Tracey Landry, for Teaching Learning & Innovation, highlighted D127’s commitment to REAL-world learning through pathways in agriculture, trades, and health sciences. She highlighted the District’s constantly growing internship program, now serving more than 270 students across many industries, thanks to our community partnerships.
Financial Stewardship: Associate Superintendent/CSBO, Dr. Abe Singh, walked through key facts, including D127’s $10.8 million in property tax relief returned to the community, our AA+ bond rating, and Grayslake's ranking below the Lake County average for property taxes per student. And that Grayslake is ranked in the top 3% of best high schools in the State of Illinois (Niche.com)
People Power: Dr. Danielle Carter, Assistant Superintendent of HR, emphasized D127’s role as a larger employer in Grayslake, with a focus on licensed and support staff excellence.
Following presentations, guests toured both campuses to see D127’s mission in action: Empowering all learners to launch their futures through relevant, engaging, authentic learning (REAL). From culinary labs to CTE spaces, they experienced how district facilities and programs invest in student growth. A Q&A session offered additional insights into curriculum, capital planning, and class sizes, which currently average 21-24 students.
As one participant shared in a follow-up email: “I had no idea how much opportunity these schools offer, it completely changes how I talk about this community with clients.”
We’re grateful to everyone who made this event possible, and to our realtor guests who continue to serve as trusted ambassadors for families finding their way home to Grayslake
